  Teaching dance classes with books is one of my favorite pastimes. I love how a story can motivate movement in children! The Rainbow Fish is a fun story for year olds, and I always end this lesson talking about how we can share our dancing with others. Here’s the lesson. The Grade 1 Dance activity packet is aligned with the Ontario curriculum expectations for Grade 1 - The Arts. This packet introduces students to what movement is, and what dance is. In this unit, students work on body awareness, use of body zones and body parts, using space at various levels and di.   The kids need to place a book over their head before the music is played. As the music starts, they need to dance and balance the book without letting it fall on the ground. They can catch the book if it’s falling and place it back over the head to continue dancing. If they miss and the book hits the floor, the player is out.
